Installing network services workshop at Warpstock 2013 in Atlanta
Warpstock is pleased to have Lewis Rosenthal offer a 4 hour workshop on networking on Friday, October 4.
The fresh install will start with a system (probably a VM) ready to be set up. We'll start with an Easy install, and explore the meaning of the various networking options. Next, we'll start over, but select Advanced, and contrast the differences in the available networking options.
Using a running system, we'll make live changes to the network setup and observe the effects. This will be a good time for Q&A, as well, so attendees should bring along either their troubled machines or as much detail of their issues as possible, and we'll try to recreate them on a test box.
We'll have a look at the various configuration files which are managed through the graphical tools, as well, and discuss testing for basic IP connectivity, routing, and DNS resolution.
Finally, if time permits, we'll blend wireless into the mix, install a Wi-Fi adapter, the WPA supplicant upgrade, and create a profile in XWLAN for it.
The location chosen is the Drury Inn& Suites Airport, located at 1270 Virginia Avenue, Atlanta, Georgia, United States 30344.
The dates for Warpstock 2013 are Friday, October 4 through Sunday, October 6, 2013.
The registration fee for this year's event is $149, and attendees who register prior to July 16 will receive a 10% early registration discount. Also note that room availability may only be guaranteed.

Package for eComStation version 3.22.01
This product is available for download to all registered users of
Software Subscription Services for eComStation. For more information,

This version does not have any significant functional changes from
the previous version so you should not see any difference with this
version. However, we would like to know if anything is broken with
this version that used to work in 3.21.07.
The significant changes are:
* Ported entire project to OpenWatcom
* Updated to ACPICA 20130517
* Added FBPR workaround.
* Changed order drivers are called during Suspend/Resume to be consistent.
There has been NO PROGRESS regarding suspend/resume and we still will not
address any tickets regarding suspend/resume until further notice.
This release is a limited install package that does not contain any of the
non-ACPI packages. Therefore, it will only install on an eCS 2.2 system or
a system that has had one of the ACPI 3.21.xx packages already installed.
If you have trouble installing this release because the installer says you
are missing required packages, install ACPI 3.21.07 first, and then install
this package.

Less success with MP3 audio stream at Warpstock Europe 2013...`
Sorry for the people who listened to the audio stream and it dropping
out. The device that provided the audio stream was an Iphone hooked up to
the internet via Wifi. In one of the presentation rooms this worked. In
the other room however the wifi signal kept dropping out. Sorry
about that.
The request was made if recordings were made of the audio stream. This
did not happened. However the presentations will be put online.
On Friday there were about 113 connection attempts and on average 15
people tuned in during the day. On Saturday we had 40 visitors.

Correction: New eComStation 2.2 beta **LIVE** CD released...
[Moderator note: Correction: Note that the URL to request a Demo CD was incorrect. The Correct URL is www.ecomstation.com/democd ]
Hello everybody,
Mensys B.V. has released a new eCS 2.2 beta live CD yesterday. This
replaces the first eCS 2.2 beta live CD released in February of this
year. We would like everybody to test this new demo CD and report succes
and/or problems via //supportteam@ecomstation.com
Bug fixes in this demo CD:
* New USB stack that should fix people who have problems with mouse and
USB keyboard not working. Please let us know if this new now works for
you, especialy if previous versions of the eCS 2.2 live and install CD
did not work for you!
* The danis506.add and os2ahci.add driver have been updated to fix
problems and regressions in the danis506.add driver.
* Problems with loading the NIC driver under Virtual PC should be fixed
now also (it would hang).
* People who reported hangs at startup on the network card setup
program, this hang is also fixed.
On some systems the supported NIC driver is not yet properly detected
and loaded yet. We are still working on this.
This new demo CD contains the latest USB stack version 10.192. Which
should fix most problems with USB mouse and keyboard not working.
You can download a copy of the new demo CD via

Status update of eCS 2.2 retail product GA (final version)
Most of the critical bugs reported by customers have been resolved. The
CUPS installer works better. Most OS2AHCI, DANIS506.ADD and USB stack
problems seem to be fixed now. People that have reported bugs have been
send private builds of the fixed drivers or private builds of the eCS
2.2 ISO to verify the bugs are fixed.
We are currently performing more testing and will release another beta
track ASAP. An exact release date of the new public beta is uncertain
as we are still waiting for feedback from some customers to verify the
bugs have been resolved.

Roderick Klein
