eComStation - OS/2

Please reserve your Warpstock Europe 2015 access before June first!

eComStationNews.com - Wed, 20150527 - 14:04 -0600

The Warpstock Europe announcements, got later of the ground then planned.

* I am sorry to have to say this, but the A&O hostel where not that always that responsive to emails I send.

* The Typo 3 CMS system has been extremely time consuming.

I have asked A&O hostels if I can let people pay the lunch when they arrive that weekend at Warpstock. But the answer was clearly no.

This was part of the reason to also decide NOT to have a volunteer sit behind a table to collect the access fee. As every year somebody would miss out on the presentations.

Also since the event access is cheap. You can book it here:
https://www.arcanoae.com/shop/warpstock-europe-2015-access/

I have asked A&O hostels if I can supply the reservation information later the 1st of June. But I do not know if I will have an answer quickly...

People who do not have a creditcard. You can in most countries open a Paypal account online and make a deposit in your Paypal account from your bank account.

Warpstock Europe is a conference about the OS/2 operating system, organized by the Dutch OS/2 VOICE foundation.
The conference is being held at the A&O Hostel Munich Laim, in Munich on the 6th and 7th of June. For more information visit
www.warpstock.eu.

Warpstock Europe 2015 update

eComStationNews.com - Sat, 20150523 - 15:52 -0600

On the 6/7th of June in Munich the OS/2 conference Warpstock Europe 2015 will be held, hosted by OS/2 VOICE and sponsored by Arca Noae LLC.

The schedule of presentations is now online for Warpstock Europe. The last *small* updates will follow later this night and tomorrow morning (May 24th).

For more information visit the website:
www.warpstock.eu/en/home.html

The current list of speakers can be found here:
www.warpstock.eu/en/agenda/speakers.html

Please note you need to reserve your access to the event and lunch before 1st of June. We are trying to extend this registration with the hostel for a couple of more days, but this is uncertain!

Its not possible to buy lunch at the hostel during the event. We asked if this was possible, but the answer was no.

Also we did not want to look this year for volunteers that wait for people that want to buy a reservation for Warpstock during the event. The access is priced in our opinion very well.

The reason the tickets are sold by Arca Noae is because they are the main sponsor of Warpstock Europe. You can buy tickets via this URL:

https://www.arcanoae.com/shop/warpstock-europe-2015-access/

If you are coming from the airport of Munich or you are coming to Munich by train. There should be no train strikes from the German traincompany Deutsche Bahn! The trade unions have made a deal not go on strike. That means any train strikes should occur AFTER Warpstock Europe.

Hope to see you visiting Warpstock Europe in Munich.

Roderick Klein

Warpstock Europe 2015 update and audio stream...

eComStationNews.com - Sat, 20150516 - 17:29 -0600

Anyway the website for Warpstock Europe is coming together. About 2 months ago I had 2 people who could help out with Warpstock Europe but they could no commit really. But that was not because they did not want to... They where extremely busy. So I organized the event myself.

* The current archive pages will stay up on typo3. But next year we will have a new website running on Wordpress or Joomla.
That way the pages will be up quicker! It took a lot of work to update Typo3.

* Tomorrow May 18th I will update the pages with most of the presenters and presentations.
For people who can not make it to Warpstock Europe 2015. An MP3 audio stream will be offered. The program of which presentations will be streamed
will be published next week. For details please visit: www.warpstock.eu/en/agenda/live_audio_stream.html

* Over the last couple of years it was possible to buy a ticket at the event. This is no longer possible as a volunteer had to sit behind a table waiting for people. Also the VOICE foundation (www.os2voice.org) does not have any cash money. Also I need to indicate to the hostel in advanced how many people are coming so they can provide enough coffee and tea! Hence the reason you need to reserve your access in advanced!

* Also note that lunch _cannot_ be purchased at the hostel. I was clearly told by the booking office of A&O hostels
this is not possible!

So you need to buy your access in advanced via:
https://www.arcanoae.com/shop/warpstock-europe-2015-access/

The reason Arca Noae deals with the bookings is because they sponsor VOICE partly to organize Warpstock Europe 2015.

* The following speakers will make a presentation(s) at WarpStock Europe 2015:

David Azarewicz, participant in Arca Noae LLC
Roderick Klein, chairman of the VOICE International
Steve Levine, independant OS/2 developer (remote via Skype)
Keith Merrington, OS/2 developer
Lewis Rosenthal, participant in Arca Noae LLC
Gregg Young, independant OS/2 developer

Program and topics of the presentations will be added to the website tonight and tomorow.

Hope to see you at Warpstock Europe 2015 in Munich on the 6 and 7th of June. For more information please visit www.warpstock.eu.

Major Major is now open source

eComStationNews.com - Mon, 20150504 - 23:09 -0600

The latest version of Major Major can be fetched from
pmoylan.org/pages/os2/Major.html
or from
ftp://pmoylan.org/Major/major2.0.zip
or from Hobbes. This software is now open source.

Major Major is a mailing list processor for OS/2. You can use it to
create multiple mailing lists, to which people can subscribe. You must,
however, have the ability to create an e-mail account for each list.
This means that either your ISP must give you multiple accounts, or that
you run your own mail server.

WebServe version 1.1

eComStationNews.com - Wed, 20150429 - 04:20 -0600

My new web server should now be up to production quality. You can get
the new version -- the sources are in the zip file -- from

ftp://pmoylan.org/software/webserve1.1.zip

It's now happily running on my own web site, the only glitch being that
googlebot is being abnormally persistent trying to fetch a file that
doesn't exist. (But that's their problem, not mine.) I plan to upload it
to Hobbes soon.

Can anyone suggest a more elegant name? All the good names seem to be
taken. I can't design an icon until I get a name.

Here's the change log:

LIST OF CHANGES

Version 1.1 (29 Apr 2015)
Fixed: number of clients wasn't being displayed.
Fixed: some source files weren't being added to the distribution.
Allowed for alternative hostnames for a domain.
Increased default max simultaneous clients to 100.
Added a timeout to deal with lazy bots.
File buffer size increased to 65536.
Improved transaction logging.
Added common log option.
Improvements to Setup program.

Version 1.0 (25 Apr 2015)
Initial release.
