DFSee version 12.4 has been released, with some significant updates.

It is a MINOR release, with several small fixes and enhancements,
and many improvements in file recovery.

For recovered files, the original date and time information is now retained
for almost any filesystem and operating system. For HPFS and FAT32 it now
also preserves the long-filename much better.

DFSee is a very powerful disk-utility with disk partitioning,
filesystem and disk analysis, some file recovery and UNDELETE
and smart imaging or cloning of partitions or complete disks.

More details at:
www.dfsee.com/dfsee/

Free golf course file for Links for OS/2

eComStationNews.com - Sat, 20150328 - 05:42 -0600

An additional, free CRH golf course file for Links for OS/2:

home.uni-one.nl/m1/games/bountifu.crh

It's a small, 625 KiB test file, so users of other versions of Links can verify that this course file format and all other additional course files are compatible with their version of Links.

It will work fine with Links/2. Just save the file BOUNTIFU.CRH in your Links/2 directory, start a new game and select the course Bountiful Golf Club.

SeaMonkey 2.21 beta 3 available

eComStationNews.com - Tue, 20150317 - 20:46 -0600

The third beta of Thunderbird 24.8.1 is now available. Based on the Bitwise Gecko work available in FF24.8.1ESR beta 4, it has basically the same requirements.
Download at https://bitbucket.org/dryeo/dry-comm-esr24/downloads/thunderbird-24.8.1b3.en-US.os2.7z
Note that an updated Lightning is needed with this update, https://bitbucket.org/dryeo/dry-comm-esr24/downloads/lightning-2.6.5r2.en-US.os2.xpi
Also a reminder that my builds are not associated with Bitwise other then using much of the same code so issues should only be raised with them if reproducible with their build.

[Software] Numerical analysis library

eComStationNews.com - Tue, 20150317 - 05:36 -0600

I have updated my numerical analysis software, and the sources (in Modula-2) and test programs can be fetched from

www.pmoylan.org/pages/m2/NumAnal.html

or from Hobbes directory /pub/os2/dev/modula (currently in incoming).

Some matrix factorisation code still needs to be added (I need to get a release from the people I did the work for), but the handling of polynomials and rational functions has been improved.

The main library modules are:

Cx Complex number arithmetic
Fourier Fast Fourier transform.
Integration Routines to solve ordinary differential equations.
Vec Vector operations.
Mat Matrix operations, including eigenvalues, inverse,
etc.
Poly Manipulation of polynomials, including root-finding.
Rational Manipulation of rational functions (ratios of
polynomials)
MiscM2 Miscellaneous procedures, collected in one module to
ease the porting of the other modules to various
environments.

contains some UI fixes (makes the "Clear Recent History" dialog and most
recent sites' thumbnails on the new tab canvas work again) and makes
XUL.DLL finally loadable into high memory.. Also this release uses the
new GCC runtime (version 4.9.2) which significantly reduces the size of
executables and DLLs and the memory footprint of the running application
(by about 5-6 megabytes).

*IMPORTANT NOTICE*

 1.

If you find a bug (which is likely), please create an issue at the
    issues page https://github.com/bitwiseworks/mozilla-os2/issues.
But before you create a new issue, be sure it is not already
reported by searching through the existing ones using the Search
field at the top of this page.

 2.

When Firefox crashes it creates a trap report that may contain
useful information for the developers. These reports are saved in
    |.TRP| files created in the directory where |firefox.exe| is
installed. By default these reports contain only basic information.
In order to make them even more useful (and therefore make a fix for
your problem much more likely) please do the following:

      * Install the latest EXCEPTQ runtime from
        home.earthlink.net/~steve53/betas/
        home.earthlink.net/%7Esteve53/betas/ (currently, this
        one
        home.earthlink.net/%7Esteve53/betas/exceptq-7.11-shl-2014-03-03.zip
        is the latest).
      * Install the Firefox symbol files by downloading the
        |.symbols.zip| archive from the link below and unzipping it to
the same directory where you installed Firefox.
      * Make Firefox crash again and attach the resulting |.TRP| file to
        the issue describing your problem.
